Cooperativa Cafetalera Ecológica La Labor Ocotepeque Limitada (COCAFELOL). COCAFELOL is an association with 310 members who produce coffee on small family-owned farmers within the department of Ocotepeque, Honduras. It was founded in 2000 by a group of 24 original members. COCAFELOL has invested in cutting edge sustainable organic farming practices, which includes the production of microbial compost teas and organic fertilizer aimed at improving the productivity and health of coffee farms. COCAFELOL also has bio-digesters that convert honey water into bio-ethanol that fuels generators to power mill equipment.

Honduran coffee that is classified as High Grown (HG) is cultivated at elevations of 1000-1500 MASL. The combination of a subtropical climate and rich volcanic soil in the origin makes for ideal conditions to cultivate coffee. Coffee is primarily grown in the Central and Western regions of Honduras.

More than 80 percent of coffee farmers are smallholder producers, tending lots from 1 to 10 hectares in size. The majority of coffee processed in Honduras is fully washed.
